Timeline: 901-950



  • The Doctor (fifth incarnation) and Tegan Jovanka (25) arrive on the planet Artaris. The Doctor makes Tegan stay behind, while he has an adventure with Iris Wildthyme (sixth incarnation) and the warrior Grayvorn seeking a holy relic. Grayvorn falls to his apparent death in the end, but is actually placed in suspended animation.1


  • With the death of the her husband, Æthelflæd (40) becomes Queen of Mercia.2


  • March 31. Nori (265) dies.



  • March 30. Tegan Jovanka (24/1983) arrives in the Kingdom of Mercia and encounters the Queen Æthelflæd (47). Æthelflæd's daughter Ælfwynn subsequently gets displaced to the future, and Queen Æthelflæd has Tegan pose as her daughter in confrontation with her brother, the Earl of Wessex, Edward (43). The fifth Doctor, Nyssa (83), and Vislor Turlough (18) travel back to this time to rescue Tegan, and are there for the slaying of Æthelflæd, and the conquest of Mercia by Wessex.3
  • September. Tegan Jovanka ends up being forced to stay six months in a monastery, and Ælfwynn takes her place when the Doctor goes to pick Tegan up.4


  • November 28. Bofur (245) dies.


  • March 27. Edmund, son of King Edward (46) of Essex, is born.
  • August 28. Navi the Faerie is born in the Faerie Realm on Hyrule. She is created to serve as an advisor to the Great Deku Tree (6426), and leader of the guardian faerie races.


  • June 29. Eadred, son of King Edward (48) of Wessex, is born.


  • July 20. King Edward (49) of Wessex dies.

August 1. Edward's son, Æthelstan (30), ascends to the kingship of Wessex and the Anglo-Saxons.


  • September 1. The guardian faeries Tatl and Tael are born in the Faerie Realm on Hyrule.


  • The Doctor (fourth incarnation), Sarah Jane Smith (23/1974), and Harry Sullivan (30/1974) are transported to this era on the planet Skaro by the Time Lord aristocracy as a first strike in the Time War. They become embroiled in the war between the Kaleds and the Thals. The Doctor and friends meet Davros (79), creator of the Daleks, at the dawn of their creation. The Kaleds and Thals are both decimated by the Daleks and Davros's manipulations. Davros is apparently slain by his own creations, but his chair actually places him in suspended animation. The Doctor and friends leave this era having delayed the Daleks' rise.[2]


  • With the conquest of East Anglia by Wessex, the Kingdom of England comes into existence.5
  • April 23. The child Tan England comes into existence.



  • January 1. The dwarf Doc is born in central Europe.


  • The English royal Elisena secretly gives birth to a son. The child, the result of elicit contact between her and Gaula's King Perion, is abandoned on a barge. The child is shortly found by a knight, who plans to bring him to Scotland. He names him Amadís.[3]


  • August 11. Hägar is born in Norway.



  • May 19. Dori (300) dies.
  • October 27. King Æthelstan (45) of England dies. His half brother, Edmund (18), succeeds him as King.


  • June 6. Eadwig, son of King Edmund (19) of England, is born.


  • December 23. Kang is born on Rigel VII.


  • February 18. Edgar, son of King Edmund (21) of England, is born.


  • The dwarf later known as Dreamy and Grumpy is born in central Europe.


  • May 26. English King Edmund (25) is killed by a thief at a festival. He is succeeded by his brother, Eadred (22).
  • Births: Robbie (November 3).


  • January 8. Jareth is born in England.
