  • May 21. Peter Pan (5) is orphaned. He is sent to St. Norbert's School for Wayward Boys.
  • The Spirit of America first manifests as Uncle Sam.
  • July 20. The British colony of British Columbia confederates with Canada, becoming the sixth province.1
  • August 30. Workers on the C & O Railroad in West Virginia are alarmed by the work captain's introduction of a steam drill to the site. John Henry (31), a man of incredible strength and speed, challenges the idea that a machine can be faster than any man, and he agrees to a race. John Henry, over the next several hours, manages to pound enough spikes, and break through solid rock to get to the other side, while the drill breaks before it can reach the end, proving he is superior to the device. John Henry suddenly dies from the stress on his heart brought about by the intense labor and force.2
  • The town of Duckburg is founded in the Calisota Special Reservation in California.

  • The Doctor (sixth incarnation) and Peri Brown () meet Kaveetch aliens Meredid and Leandra Roath, who had traveled to Earth to escape the eradication of their species, who were wiped out by their own creations, the Sontarans. They work to create a virus that kills the Sontaran clones, but they are stopped, and come in direct conflict with the Sontarans and the Rutans, and decide to move on and try and repopulate their species.3
  • The Doctor (eighth incarnation), Charley Pollard (), and C'rizz go to a saloon in the western United States and the Doctor plays poker. A slightly older same incarnation shows up, accompanied by Lucie Miller (), and joins the game. They are further observed by a dying sixth incarnation of the Doctor and his companion Evelyn Smythe ().4
  • November 5. Incumbent President and Republican candidate Ulysses S. Grant () defeats former New York congressman Horace Greeley in the United States presidential election.5
  • The Doctor, Ian Chesterton (34), Barbara Wright (31), and Vicki Pallister (17) arrive on the ship Mary Celeste. They quickly depart in the TARDIS. A ship full of Daleks arrives, causing the entire crew to abandon ship.6
  • December 5. The abandoned Mary Celeste is found near the Azores.7

  • April 21. The android Kamelion is created on Gelsandor.
  • Alien visitors genetically alter a collection of gorillas. These gorillas found Gorilla City in western Africa, and hide their land from mainstream humanity.
  • May 21. Ethan Edwards (43) and Marty Pawley (23) finally encounter the Comanche chief Cicatriz at a temporary settlement. They are also reunited with Debbie Edwards, his captive for over five years. After a brief parlay, a confrontation ensues, with Ethan trying to kill Debbie for having become a "squaw". Marty prevents her murder, and he and Ethan barely escape alive, with Ethan wounded in the shoulder.11
  • July 1. The British colony of Prince Edward Island confederates with Canada, becoming its seventh province.12
  • July 11-12. Ethan Edwards (44) and Marty Pawley return to the homestead, interrupting the wedding between Lauren Jorgensen and Charlie McCorry. Marty, in love with Laurie, fights McCorry to a draw. In the aftermath, the Texas Rangers plan on a raid of the local Comanche village, relocated nearby, so as to slaughter Chief Cicatriz and his forces. Marty infiltrates the village to rescue Debbie Edwards, and ends up killing Cicatriz himself. Ethan scalps Cicatriz's corpse, and appears ready to kill Debbie, but ultimately relents, sparing her, as the Comanches are devastated. They bring Debbie to the Jorgensen home, and Ethan, his quest complete and finding no home there, departs again.13
  • September 11-12. The Doctor (eighth incarnation) accidentally brings Mary Shelley (18/1816) to Vienna in this year. There they encounter Cyberman survivors of an advanced scout being used as sideshow attractions and one madman's attempt to create a wooden replacement race for humanity. The Cybermen and the madman die.14

  • March 8. Former President Millard Fillmore () dies from complications due to a stroke.15
  • Jonah Hex (35) is captured by his Apache father, who intends to kill him. Jonah ends up rescuing his girlfriend from his father and kills him.
  • Births: Erik Weisz (March 24), Herbert Clark Hoover (August 10)16, Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (November 30)


  • March. The Black Panther (32), his quantum counterpart (42), Everett Ross (28), and others, are transported to this time from 2003 by the mystical brass Frogs, to Alberdine, Texas, where they team up with Western vigilante heroes Rawhide Kid, Kid Colt, and Two-Gun Kid to fight Loki Laufeyson. They are able to return to their own time.
  • June 8. The droid Dot Matrix is first activated in Druish space.
  • July 31. Tennessee Senator and former U.S. President Andrew Johnson (66) dies from complications due to a stroke.17
  • Jonah Hex (36) marries a woman named Mei Ling.

  • April 28. Leopold Moutbatten, Duke of Albany, enters a time portal after following a time traveler from 2001. After spending some time in that period, he returns, shortly followed by Kate McKay, a woman he fell in love with in that time. A woman from the future, she immediately clashes with Victorian values, but becomes engaged to Leopold.18
  • June 2. Mei Ling Hex runs away from her husband Jonah (37), taking their month-old infant son Jason with them.
  • August 1. The Colorado Territory is admitted as the state of Colorado, the thirty-eighth state to join the United States.19
  • November 7. The United States presidential election ends inconclusively. Eventually, Republican candidate Ohio Governor Rutherford B. Hayes (54) will be awarded the presidency, winning out against Democratic candidate New York Governor Samuel J. Tilden.20

  • March 4. Rutherford B. Hayes (54) is sworn in as nineteenth President of the United States.21
  • Killian Jones (43) takes command of the pirate ship Sea Devil, and brings his loyal but stupid servant William Smee (49) aboard as his boatswain. He takes the new fearsome pirate name of Captain Black Stache.
  • August 17. Billy "the Kid" Bonney (17) shoots Francis P. Cahill in revenge. This is Billy's first murder.22
  • The town of St. Canard is founded west of Duckburg, Calisota.
  • September 6. The humanoid Anthro Baron von Rotten is born in Deutschland, Calisota.
  • December 19. The orangutan Louie is born in Sumatra in the Dutch East Indies.

  • February 20. Vincenzo Pecci (67) is elected Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He adopts the Papal name Leo XIII.23
  • June 16. Thomas Halloway is born in the United States.
  • July 14. The Indian rock python Kaa hatches in the forests of the Bengal.
  • August 10 (Saturday). Five orphan boys, led by a boy named Peter (whose surname has been forgotten) (12) are loaded on the sailing ship Never Land. Never Land departs after the ship HMS Wasp, as part of a convoy to the island nation of Rundoon. Also coming aboard Never Land is Molly Aster (12), a young member of the Starcatchers, who learns that the ship she is on, as opposed to Wasp, is a trunk full of Starstuff. At the same time, the pirate ship Sea Devil, under the command of Captain Black Stache (Killian Jones) (44), heads out to capture the great treasure (thinking it's aboard Wasp), and capture Wasp.24
  • August 13 (Tuesday). Captain Black Stache and the crew of the Sea Devil seize the HMS Wasp, killing much of the crew. Stache renames the ship the Jolly Roger, leaving most of the surviving crew on Sea Devil. Jolly Roger sets off after Never Land.25
  • August 14-17. The Jolly Roger attacks the ship Never Land. While under attack, a temporal storm erupts at this "fixed point", resulting in the destruction of Never Land. The boy Peter, the girl Molly Aster, and Peter's fellow orphans end up on the island of the Mollusk Native American tribe. They run afoul of the Mollusks, as well as Black Stache and his pirates, and agents of the Others. Peter befriends the Mollusks after saving their chief's life at the same time he is permanently infused with Starstuff, giving him the ability to fly and halting his aging. He also befriends the mermaids dwelling in the waters around the island. The final encounter with Black Stache results in Peter cutting one of the pirate captain's hands off, and it being consumed by the giant crocodile "Mr. Grin". Peter and his friends decide to stay on Mollusk Island. When Molly and her father depart to take the Starstuff to England to dispose of it, Aster takes a bird and uses it to summon the fairy Tinker Bell (), who immediately falls in love with the pubescent Peter.26
  • August 15 (Thursday). Jonah Hex (39) is abducted by temporal agents to the year 2056. He is transported back to this time after two years' experience, with his memories hazed.
  • August 16 (Friday). The child Tan called Cyprus comes into existence on his namesake island.
  • August 20. Captain Black Stache begins using a hook on the stump of his arm, and earns himself the new feared title of Captain Hook.
  • October. After agents of the Others visit Mollusk Island (Never Land), the boy Peter, joined by the fairy Tinker Bell, follows their ship back to England to warn the Aster family. After a harrowing adventure in London, they reach Molly Aster, and, with the help of Molly's friend George Darling, defeat the Others at Stonehenge, the site of the Return of the Starstuff. When the Others' shadow agent Lord Ombra attempts to seize Peter's shadow, the contact inadvertently results in the shadow gaining a pseudo-life force of its own.

  • The Doctor ("tenth" incarnation) and Rose Tyler (21/2006) save Queen Victoria (59) from a werewolf. In the aftermath, she nights the Doctor and Rose and banishes them. She founds the Torchwood Institute as a means of protecting the empire against supernatural and alien threats.27
  • March 14. Albert Einstein is born in Ulm, Wurttemburg, Germany.
  • Magnus Greel (49) arrives in this time period in China. He meets the peasant Li H'sen Chang, and, posing as the ancient Xian god Weng-Chiang, enlists Chang in his quest for power.28
  • Dorian Gray's (16) uncle's housekeeper Constance Harker seduces him, being his first kiss and first sex partner.
  • October 3. Ah Ping Chan is born in Oahu, Hawai'i.
  • An evil entity that once acted as Dorian Gray's imaginary friend kills Constance Harker by knocking her down the stairs.
  • October 22. Time-traveling teens Bill Preston (16) and Ted Logan (16) (both 1988) visit the the New Mexico Territory and take young outlaw Billy the Kid Bonney (19) on a time-traveling adventure, eventually dropping him back off moments after he left.29

  • July 1. The vampire Drusilla sires William Pratt (28), who becomes the vampire Spike.
