  • March 4. The Vermont Republic accedes to statehood in the United States, becoming the fourteenth state.1
  • In New Orleans, the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (30) attacks young drunkard Louis de Pointe du Lac (24) and vampirizes him.2
  • December 5. The Time Lord Doctor (sixth incarnation), Evelyn Smythe (57), several alternate timeline clones of (2756), and one alternate future version (1856) of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart visit the dying Mozart, and convince him not to accept a cure to his tuberculosis from another clone. Mozart dies, and his legacy is secured.3

  • June 1. The state of Kentucky is carved from western Virginia, and is admitted to the United States as the fifteenth state.
  • The last scion of the Belmont clan, young Richter Belmont, rises to the task upon learning that the dark lord Dracula has returned.5
  • September. English aristocrat Percy Blakeney, living in Paris, secretly dons a mask and costume as the Scarlet Pimpernel. He rescues various nobles before their executions at the guillotine.6
  • November 23. Dr. Victor Frankenstein brings his homunculus to life.


  • January 21. Deposed French King Louis XVI () is executed by guillotine. This is considered the beginning of the "Reign of Terror" era of the French Revolution in which thousands are executed for often flimsy reasons in an effort to "protect" the Revolution.
  • October 16. Former French Queen Consort Marie Antoinette (37) is executed by guillotine.


  • Late August. The Doctor's TARDIS, carrying the Doctor, Susan Foreman, Ian Chesterton (32), and Barbara Wright (30), arrives outside Paris, France. The travelers are caught up in the latter days of the Reign of Terror period of the French Revolution, including a direct encounter with Maximilien Robespierre (36). They manage to avoid the guillotine.7
  • August 24. Chingachgook (79), "the Last of the Mohicans", passes away.8
  • August 27. Maximilien Robespierre is shot in the jaw and arrested.
  • August 28. Maximilien Robespierre (36) is executed by guillotine.
  • The Time Lords Doctor (second incarnation) and Serena save Napoleon Bonaparte () from the guillotine. They have a brief run-in with the Player Contessa.9
  • The vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (28) attacks a girl named Claudia (5) who is weeping over her mother's corpse. Leaving her to die, his associate, Lestat de Lioncourt (34) vampirizes her, in an effort to forge a family-like unit.10


  • March 20. Kylling Kluk hatches on a farm in Denmark. Her parents are Hone Pone (Henny Penny) and Hane Pane.
  • March 28-29. The Danish chick Kylling Kluk, living amongst a group of semi-Anthropomorphs in farmland, after getting hit on the head by an acorn, assumes that the sky is falling. She sets out to speak with Danish King Christian VII (46), informing people of the catastrophe she believes is pending, causing a mass hysteria amongst the animals. A fox tricks the animals into thinking she is also scared, but kills and eats them each in turn, including Kluk.11 The fox would go on to tell this story to other jerks, often mixing Kluk up with her mother Hone Pone (Henny Penny), and derisively calling her Chicken Little.12
  • May. The chiefdom of the island of Hawai'i in the Hawaiian islands chain begins a series of attacks on the other islands in order to unify the islands under one government.13


  • February 25. The town of Springfield is founded by Jebediah Springfield in the state of Kentucky.
  • June 1. The Southwest Territory is admitted to the United States as the state of Tennessee, the sixteenth state.14
  • August 10. The Dulcians test a nuclear weapon on a secluded island on Dulkis.
  • Rip Van Winkle (60) wakes up from his ghostly coma, and returns to his village to learn twenty years have passed. He is happy his annoying wife is dead. He is reunited with his now grown children.15
  • November 5-6. Russian Empress Catherine II (75) suffers a stroke, slips into a coma and dies.16
  • December 7. Vice President John Adams (61), a Federalist, defeats Democratic-Republican candidate Thomas Jefferson (53) in the United States presidential election.
  • Births: Nicholas Pavlovich Romanov (July 6)


  • February 22. Adventurous German Baron Hieronymus von Munchausen (76) dies.17
  • March 4. Vice President John Adams (61) is sworn in as second President of the United States.
  • Young English writer Samuel Taylor Coleridge, while attending a wedding at a seaside town, is approached by an ancient mariner (69), who tells him of his harrowing ordeal on a ship more than thirty years earlier. Coleridge goes on to write it all down in a poem.18


  • Scott "Free" escapes Apokolips and returns to New Genesis, abrogating the Pact.
  • July 19. The Wonderlander Humpty Dumpty travels to London from the Wonderland realm. The bizarre creature captivates British King George III, who knights him.
  • September 27. Humpty Dumpty, sitting upon a freestanding wall, has a great fall. His runny yolk spreading slowly along the ground, King George III asks all his court to restore the egg man, but they are unable to come up with a solution. In desperation, the King consults the great horse goddess Epona, and she, despite using the collective intelligence of the English horse population, is also powerless to help.19


  • The survivors of a Time Lord attack on the colony world Oridifica from 2596 arrive on Anathema in this year. Among them are Fitz Kreiner and Laura Tobin.
  • Darius Wayne begins construction of Wayne Manor outside of Gotham Town, New York.
  • December 14. George Washington (67) dies of epiglottitis complicated by bloodletting treatments.
  • Births: Mary Poppins (August 9)


  • December 6. Democratic-Republican Vice President Thomas Jefferson () defeats President John Adams (Federalist) in the United States presidential election.
