  • March 23. Tokugawa Ieyasu (60) is formally named Shogun by Emperor Go-Yozei of Japan.1

March 24. Queen Elizabeth of England (69) dies.
April O'Neil (23/1990) is mystically transported to Japan in this era. She is followed by the Turtles Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael (all 15/1990), who rescue her and return to the future.[1]

  • Miguel de Cervantes first publishes the novel Don Quixote, a novelization of the adventures of the eponymous "knight".

Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu abdicates as formal Shogun, though he does not actually relinquish power.
Nur-ud-din Muhammad Jahangir Badshah Ghazi (formerly Salim) accedes as Emperor of the Mughal Empire.

  • William Shakespeare (42) completes the play Macbeth, loosely based the life of the Scottish king.2

July 15. Rembrandt Harmenzsoon van Rijn is born in Leiden, Holland, Dutch Republic.

1607

April 26. The Virginia Company vessels Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery make landfall on the east coast of North America.
Chief Powhatan's daughter Pocahontas helps stop a war between the English settlers (led by Captain John Radcliffe) and the Powhatan tribe.
May 24. The English Virginia Company founds Fort Jamestown.

1608

August. On Mobius, the home of Lord Mifune is attacked by ninja assassins under the command of rival lord Hikiji. Mifune's family is slaughtered, and he himself is beheaded. Mifune's samurai, Miyamoto Usagi (22), is scarred while battling Hijiki, but he manages to escape and bury his master's head. From then he becomes a ronin, and seeks to avenge his master's murder.

September 17. Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel (82) dies.
November 13. Miyamoto Usagi (23) is briefly transported through time to Earth in 1992.

May 14. Louis XIII ascends to the kingship of France after the assassination of his father. Still a child, his mother Marie de Medici rules as regent for three years.

1614

The Dutch make a claim to a good stretch of the northeast coast of North America, dubbing it New Netherland.

1615

November 24. Louis XIII of France marries Anne of Austria.

April 22. Miguel de Cervantes (68) dies.

June 1. Former shogun and de facto ruler of Japan Tokugawa Ieyasu (73) dies.

March 20. Pocahontas dies.

October 29. Sir Walter Raleigh is executed by beheading as a favor to the Spanish government, undoing a stay from years earlier.

1622

October 2. Duncan MacLeod is mortally wounded and dies. He soon revives as an immortal, and is cast out for "witchcraft."

1623

January 24. A daimyo and samurai lord in Japan sets out to destroy the evil entity that is encroaching on his kingdom. Its black nether-substance kills his army, but he reaches its base, a pool of black liquid. The Samurai Lord fires an enchanted arrow into the pool in hopes of destroying it, but it instead generates an intelligence in the evil, that names itself Aku. Aku easily defeats the Samurai Lord, and begins rampaging in his castle. The Samurai Lord is rescued by Odin's steed Sleipnir, and taken to a location in the sky, where he encounters the gods Vishnu, Odin, and Ra. They forge a sword of human righteousness, and set him on the path to destroy Aku. Returning to his castle, the Samurai Lord utterly defeats Aku, whose remnant he traps in a shadow tree. During this battle, the Lord's wife gives birth to a son.[2]
December 6. Endora is born in the Puritan Plymouth Colony in North America.

1624

The Virginia Company's charter is revoked, and the English establish the Virginia crown colony.

1625

Duncan MacLeod meets his clansman Connor, and begins training for The Game.
Fort Amsterdam is erected on the island of Manhattan in North America by Dutch settlers. It becomes the basis of the New Amsterdam colony.
